ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

Fanny Wyrick-Flax, m.AmSAT, began studying the Alexander Technique in 2011 and completed her teacher certification in 2022. In private lessons and group classes, Fanny helps people to access efficiency, coordination, and confidence in their daily lives.

Drawing from her background as a professional flutist, Fanny works with performing artists to address and prevent performance-related injuries, cultivate openness and curiosity in the practice room, and tap into balanced fluidity and resonance on stage.

Fanny is a member of The Juilliard School’s Alexander Technique Faculty in the Music Division and serves as Assistant Faculty at the Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique. She has presented workshops and masterclasses in the Alexander Technique at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, The Juilliard Preparatory Division, Orchestrating Dreams, and the Sapientia Initiative’s “AT for All” program. UPCOMING GROUP CLASSES

AT for Musicians

with Fanny Wyrick-Flax, M.AmSAT

Mondays 3/18 & 3/25 at 5pm-6:30pm

Class size limited to 15 | Class fee: pay-what-you-can

Presented by AT for All & Sapientia Initiative | 115 W 27th Street #6F

Most musicians learn that “practice makes perfect” – that they need to practice many repetitions for several hours a day to get to the next level. But what if there was another way?

In this class, led by flutist and Juilliard faculty member Fanny Wyrick-Flax, we will uncover habitual patterns and explore new ways of doing things using the Alexander Technique. Bring your instrument to experiment in class, or just bring your primary instrument – yourself! Each class will conclude with a masterclass-style format with 2-3 participants performing a familiar piece of music or a warm-up with hands-on support from the teacher. Open to musicians of all levels.

Participants can register for one or both class dates.
